Benazir Bhutto (54) has been declared by the Pakistani neodjihadists and the Incorporation ( infantile Afghan talibans, al-Qaida interjihadists and its satellites ) a public enemy No. One , gen. Musharraf coming only in Second , the threat being pronounced by the boss of the Pakistani South Waziristan talibans Baitullah Mahsud who boasted of sending to Karachi three suicidal commandos but then denied his responsibility for the massacre .Al Qaida has also denounced all the followers of Musharraf and Bhutto as the US agents and declared the death on them …
Bhutto´s return has been obviously prearranged by the US (in Jan07 she was officially invited to the US) to consolidate the Musharraf´s power - despite his May 07 declaration that he will not allow BB to return who in turn advised him to step down as chief of the army and threatened her PPP would join the opposition parties in boycotting the presidential election, and vowed to return regardless of whether or not she reached a power-sharing deal with Musharraf, in July 07 some of her frozen funds were released and on October 5,07 Musharraf signed the national Reconciliation Ordinance giving amnesty to BB (and his husband,) and other political leaders, except the exiled former premier Nawaz Sharif, the competitor of both BB and PM (who came to power in 1999 ). The US is apparently pushing for a deal in which Musharraf would remain as pres. and either Bhutto or one of her nominees would become the prime minister in the 08 elections … Washington hopes that Bhutto together with Musharraf will be better able to affront the upsurge of the extremist islamism the ideologists of which would like to grasp the Pakistani nuclear weapons …
Karachi, the economic capital of Pakistan and the capital of the Sind province, ill-famous for its ethnical ,religious and mafia tradition,has become the stronghold of the islamist extremists with hundreds of madrasas publicly supporting the Waziristan talibans and their cause to establish the medieval islamist state in Pakistan… On October 18,07 two suicidal islamist bombers tried to attempt on her life, killed 136-160 people and injured hundreds of them (a number of senior officials), with BB safely seated in the armoured truck while 10 minutes earlier she was completely unprotected enjoying the ovations ,waving at the people and accepting flowers through the truck´s roof with her bodyguards deeply desperate .Before boarding the plane in Dubai she expressed her anxiety about being shot the moment she descends the plane but after the arrival she refused to be flown by a helicopter to the mausoleum AliJinnah where she was to deliver a speech , declaring that „ no true muslim will attack me as the islam forbids the attacks against women …“ The attack ‚the 19th since July attack against the Red Mosque in Islamabad, was a nice example of the urban islamist guerrilla murdering in cold blood their religious mates … BB accused „ certain individuals within the Pakistani government who abuse their powers to advance the cause of the islamists …“

Benazir Bhutto with her democratic reputation tarnished but not yet dilapidated could have a significant say in the country´s secularisation (she has declared that she would enabled Washington to carry out a full scale operation against the extremists in both Waziristans ) and liberalisation … In addition, her influential Pakistan People´s Party (PPP) stays much-favoured with the Pakistani middleclass .
Benazir Bhutto ´s Grandfather was a wealthy landlord and politician who in return for his cooperation with the Brits enlarged his land property … Benazir ´s Father, interested in the theories of socialism, in 1966 declared :“ Islam is our faith,democracy is our policy and socialism is our economy „ while criticising the US for providing the military aid to India , the reason why he began to cooperate with MOW that provided an economic and technical aid to Pakistan,and finally, in January 1972 he nationalised all the major industries. Zulfikar Bhutto was the president ,the prime minister, the Father of the Pakistani nuclear programme and the first and last state promoter of the social benefits for the Poor … but also a dictator killing his opponents and violating human rights . In July 1977 his government was arrested by an islamist gen. Ziaul Haq and the martial law had been imposed … Before his arrest he named his second wife Nusrat the pres. of the PPP he had founded as one of the largest and prominent party …
Zulfikar was the only one who maintained friendly relations with the shah Reza Pahlavi and they had even concluded an agreement of mutual military help in the case of internal (!) political upheaveals but the shah did not keep his part of the deal, and though asked, he did not come to Bhutto´s help in 1977 …

Her Father was sunnite, her Mother shiite but Pinkie as her father nicknamed her was educated in the Christian convent as was often the case with the „high society“ in Pakistan … When 16, she was sent to a Harvard college,leading a carefree life full of rock music and antiVietnam war parties … In 1971 her father played a key role in the loss of the East Pakistan that became Bangladesh, in 1973 when she was 20 she went to study in Oxford and when she returned in 1977, the general chaos reigned in Pakistan with her controversial father having promised too much to everybody ….He promised the political power to religious leaders, the nuclear programme to the army and the land reform to the poor …

In 1978 her father was in a staged trial sentenced to death penalty and while her family left the country for safety reasons , BB stayed and visited her arrested Father until he was hanged in 1979 when BB was 26. BB says she had no choice but to continue in her Father´s footsteps with so many people wishing her to do so .Then in turns she stayed and left Pakistan, many times being detained … From LON she reorganized the PPP and returned triumfantly in 1986 when millions of the Pakistanis welcomed her with roses … In 1986 the youngest, politically ambitious brother Shah of BB was mysteriously poisoned in Cannes – since then her second brother Mir Murtaza plotted with her Mother against BB and criticised the authoritarianism of BB and later the corrupted manners of her husband …
In December 1987 (34) the clever beauty married a „patented „ playboy Asif Ali Zardari by 3 yrs younger ( during her 2nd term he made him a minister of environment, from 96 to 04 he spent 8 yrs in jails without ever being convicted on charges from corruption to murder … In 1988 (35) BB became the first woman prime minister in a Muslim country , young and charming , always wearing a white silky veil since then, having many admirers ( Francois Mitterrand fell platonically in love with her) .However, she made the same mistake as her Father when surrounding herself by incompetent profiteers only … In August 90 after 20 months of power she was removed by the then pres. at the wish of the army „ for incompetency „ … In October 93 it was Nawaz Sharif , her old political rival also from the rich family, who was removed from the post of the prime minister for „ corruption“ and the Muslim Iron Lady came back without having learnt any lesson from her previous reign – becaming yet more authocratic she tried to eliminate all her opponents one after another , she yet more expanded her court of profiteers, spent money extravagantly (inter alia she sponsored the then talibans) and made her husband the minister of the investment in which he got a nationwide nickname „Mr 10%“ – they both were born ultra rich and became mega rich (The Wall Street Journal from 07 indicates that the „royal couple „ gained between 100 million – 1.5 mld dollars in bribes and commissions , while in Switzerland there are still court proceedings running for the couple´s money laundering ….“ )
BB´s brother Mir, sharply criticising the „royal couple „ , was shot dead in September 96 …She was removed for the 2nd time 2 months later after her brother´s death , and Mr10% was accused of murdering his brother-in-law though BB claimed that a few days before her brother´death she had reconciliated with him … Her only sister Sanam prefers not to be interested in politics …

Nope. She has no sway with the radical Muslims...she can onlyh help to unify some of the Westernized wealthy elites in the country behind the current government...that is about it.
