Chinese built up is too trivial compared to American power. So, people are not necessarily concerned, even though the politicians want people to.

Chinese submarines surfaced near American ships 100 miles off China coast. It is tens of thousands of miles away from America. If Chinese submarines surfaced about 100 miles off American coast, then that is a concern for Americans.

Not much need to care unless China's military achieves some strategic breakthrough, i.e., the ability to mobile her attack force globally.

Quantative military addup serves not better than increase in GDP. It is more of a gesture showing that the military spending is more or less proportioned to the economic development.

Its all the 'made in China' goods that fund their military build up, so we are a part of the problem.

China has been buying a lot of advanced Russian fighters (Su-27 Flankers) and also Russian submarines and a few Russian destroyers. China has also created several new classes of naval vessels which are very impressive.

I think China still has problems producing the engines for advanced fighters, but I think that China is finally getting to the stage where it can start mass producing quality aircraft engines, and thus finally F-15 and F-16 class fighters.
Chinese weapons' quality is still so much lower than Americans' that America should relax. The Chinese military spending is far less than American or even Japanese military spending. It is not even a concern for Americans.

I don't see it as a big problem yet. Kind of ironic isn't it, complaining about Chinas build-up compared to our military spending.

I got a chuckle out of human rights concerns.

Whether or not China will go to war with Taiwan in the next 10 years depends on Taiwan. If they formally declare independence, then war; if not, then no war. China has its own problems. It will not grow easily under the world order dominated by America. Not a big concern even in 100 years.

I think when a country grows to a certain degree, it will always slow down. American economy growing 2% is more than Chinese economy growing 10%. Also, China has many domestic problems that might impose danger to the economic system, like China's banking system.
