What do you think will happen if China and US went to war, which is pretty unlikely, but they might go to war if:
China moves to take Taiwan
US moves to claim Taiwan as independent nation


But IF they DO go to war, I think one of the following will happen:
1. China backs off, recognizing Taiwan as independent (not likely, because this will severely cripple China exporting of goods)
2. China does not back up, therefore entering a war with US involving Nuclear Weapons. In this case, US will be likely to back up because Nuclear Bomb will at least hit one US city, therefore causing catastrophic events, involving millions of life. ( very likely, plus the internal protest in US will be great too)

Nobody is gonna use Nukes no how. The US will cut Taiwan loose like a stinky old grouchy uncle as opposed to fighting China, which has the manpower to repell any invasion force. And if we steam our Navy over there we'll find that China almost doesn't have one. We could begin a naval missile attack but they might nuke our ships then and I wouldn't blame them.

Taiwan ain't worth it.....neither is Iraq.

A war with China would be catastrophic for both countries and for the rest of the industrialized world. It would almost certainly include a neculear exchange with both countries being hit. The conflict would likely draw in Russia, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, etc. setting off a chain reaction of hostilities. It is hard to see how western Europe would stay out of the fray. At best, ethnic riots would hit major European cities. Even GW Bush has to know that going to war with China is a no win situation.

I think china would refuse to loan us the money to go to war with them.

Well, not really. It will go on for a while, but there will be near zero attractive incentives to reproduction.

Frist of all, the US wouldn't go to war with china because there is none of the normal characteristics for a US conflict. You have to take in mind that the US is being run like a huge corporation and not like an avarage state. The US would never engage in a armed conflict from which they couldn't clearly benefit.

CCP will not recognize Taiwan as independent.if CCP do it today,then CCP will be done tomorrow.which political party recognize Taiwan as independent,that party will be done.you can't imagine how powerful Chinese nationlism is.

I agree with this. I would say as on Taiwan it would depend on the circamstances. I believe if Taiwan anounced Independecnce we would probally not help.If it was just an outright invasion on Taiwan or Japan I am not so sure.

Really I hope it never comes to that a war on that scale would be huge. I would also assume the fight would not just invole the US and China. I believe it would devaste both countrys. I really hope it did not go nuclear. I not sure on the leaglity I but I read our Nuclear arsenal is huge with a load of ICBMs

I think if China actually tried to invade Taiwan, it will take it much further. Like invading its old enemy - Japan. And finally becomes like USSR and kind of crumples.

If we went to war with China we'd be evenly matched simply because they have just the amount of soldiers to match our own military.

If it went on for far too long we would destroy each other with nukes.
