Do every Hong Kong citizen hates Mainland?

we know before 1997,most Hong Kong citizens left Hong Kong, the reason is they didn't want to live under CCP's rule.when Hong Kong democrats support students protest in Tiananmen square in 1989(they also help students leaders escape from Bei Jing in 6,3th evening, with out notice students quite square.students are real brave fighters, but that leaders, such as Cai Lin,Wang Dan...,I really don't like them)CCP is a terrible word in their mind.

7 days ago,is the 7,1st.we seen two different kind of people in Hong Kong.
one kind of people protested Hu Jintao, they ask Bei Jing Government to redress "64 incident(1989)",they also ask Bei Jing give them election.(6,30th),they usually support Hong Kong Pan-democracy party
here is the news clip:

also,we can seen this kind of people.they celebrate Hong Kong rejoin China.in Hong Kong news often call them "Royalist"(it's mean lean Bei Jing).the typical person is the current Hong Kong government officials.

this Hong Kong official said: in Hong Kong, you can say anything you like to say,you can express yourself on anyway.you can see protest and celebration in 7,1th.it is quite mean Hong Kong is a democratic city.

our problem is: Do every Hong Kong citizen hates Mainland?we can read much articles in internet.some guys complain that since Hong Kong rejoin China, they didn't get anything from Mainland.then what's the fact?I think we can talk Hong Kong on most subjects, such as economy, but not only politics(cuz some HK citizens don't like Mainland's real reason is not politics,is Hong Kong face much competition from Canton province and Yantz delta, such as Shang Hai,Su Zhou, etc)

please send your view on this thread.I will be back (my gf have not back,I am waitting for her,so i have no much strength spend on politics these day )

For Hong Kong, the most important thing is that most Hong Kong people have no interests in politics. They only care about money. Bascially, they are very materialistic, especially compared to Taiwan.

In 2003, Hong Kong economy was not good and the ex-leader Tung Chien Hua was not popular among the people, so more Hong Kong people are against Beijing. Then Beijing set up CETA and boost Hong Kong economy by the Mainland consumer power, so recently, less Hong Kong people are against Beijing.

In general, the richer they are in Hong Kong, the more likely they will like Beijing. Beijing helped Hong Kong native powers to bash off British capitals after 1997. Poorer people in Hong Kong are not so relevant, and they face great competition from Mainland workers. Talking about competition, Hong Kong people do not have to worry about the financial competition from Shanghai and Shenzhen, as long as China do not allow floating currency. Therefore, Hong Kong is strongly against American effort to force Chinese currency reform.

Hong Kong people in general are better educated than average mainland Chinese, which is why they also feel superior and are somewhat snobbish and discriminate mainland Chinese. It is not just Hong Kong. Rich people usually discriminate against the poor. It is human nature.

I agree, as always politics is related to your economic situation. We must remember that the British rule of Hong Kong was not exactly a perfect example of liberty and democracy, even by 1997. So it's not like they lost huge amounts of liberty when the CCP took over.

Britain gave Hong Kong media freedom without democratic government. When Hong Kong media was asking for more democracy in 1960s, it was suppressed. Hong Kong people have more confidence in London, rather than Beijing, so they are asking for democratic government, which they had not been asking for a long time.

Britain also gave Hong Kong a satisfactory legal system and very clean government. Mainland China and Taiwan are all corrupt, while Hong Kong and Singapore are extremely clean. This is a huge contribution by the British in Hong Kong.

That is true to some extent.. but also an exagerration. There is plenty of corruption in Hong Kong and Singapore.

I also find that the ex-pats are more emotionally defiant towards China... And there is alot of concern about chinese-style censorchip...

In dissatisfaction with the NPC's (National People's Congress) interpretation of Basic Law that universal suffrage was impossible for Chief Executive and Legislative Council elections in 2007 and 2008 respectively, and in fear of the loss of freedom of speech fueled by the heated patriotic debate and abrupt pause of popular radio programmes allegedly suppressed by Beijing authorities... There is a fear that China is slowly trying to encompass Hong Kong in its manner of Governing and Law. Regardless of the economic improvements that have happened there is still alot of concern over the process of politics and law concerning their sovereignty...
