This is an article that made me think and would like to see how others feel. Is it possible?


All Things Considered, April 25, 2007 · In Afghanistan, the Taliban insurgency is spreading, even reaching some provinces in the north that had never been its strongholds. Last week, Taliban fighters attacked a district only 45 miles from the capital, Kabul. Afghans increasingly fear that NATO and Afghan forces will lose the war.

As the fighters reach more and more towns and villages, suicide attacks are on the rise in once peaceful areas.

For many, the recent attack by 100 Taliban fighters in the province of Kapisa, a largely Tajik enclave 60 miles from Kabul, illustrates the strengthening hold of the group across Afghanistan.

I suspect if the Dems take the presidency in 08, and keep the house and senate, our defeat in both Iraq and Afghanistan will be official. MARK

It won't be official, they won't admit defeat, but I imagine they will leave as soon as possible.

Now why would they have any qualms about admitting defeat in Afghanistan? Theyve already done so in Iraq. MARK

Only one, who isn't running for election. The people at the top are too canny to admit defeat unless they absolutely have to, in order to beat Bush. They know it would make them look "unamerican" or something.

And we are winning now? The war will probably continue no matter who plays pres.
