66 die in India-Pakistan train attack
By MUNEEZA NAQVI, Associated Press Writer

DEWANA, India - An explosion on a train headed for Pakistan set off a fire Monday that killed at least 66 people, some of whom became trapped when a train door was fused shut by the heat of the flames. India's prime minister vowed that "the culprits will be caught."

The explosion and fire struck on the eve of peace talks between India and Pakistan
and hit just before the Samjhauta Express reached the station in the village of Dewana, about 50 miles north of New Delhi. As on most Indian trains, the windows of many cars are barred for security reasons.

I heard several weeks ago that Musharraf was being criticized by some Pakistani's as giving up on the war to re-take Kashmir. This seems like an attempt to de-rail the peace process.

Do you think Pakistan and India can come to some kind of agreement where they can agree on Kashmir? I don't really see Kashmir ever leaving Indian hands, and due to India's sheer size, I see Pakistan losing the Indian-Pakistan arms race. It's in Pakistan's best interests to conclude peace and then spend less money on their military.

It's like a Palestine situation though. The population will not be in favor of giving up their land, thus making it hard to improve the situation.

For the last few years there's been a stand-off, half of the country is ruled by Pakistan, half by India, and there isn't any fighting. The easiest thing is if they just continued doing that.

As to the arms race, they both already have the ability to nuke each other...

Let this be a lesson to us all, why countries shouldn't be split up like India was. Kashmir was a particularly stupid idea: a country of Muslims with a Hindu ruler.

India have deployed 700,000 troops in occopied Kashmir and majority of Kahmiri's youth have been sluaughtered by Indian army in fake encounters.

India have the largest number of poor, malnourished, prostitutes and violent armed seperatest movements in world.

How long India can afford such occupation of Kashmir is not the matter which is going to be decided by Indian government, but the religious extremists play major role, who want to keep the occupation as a matter of honour.

This statement does not sound accurate. You may have mistated it. There are about 4 million people in Kashmir. If we assume that the youth of a country is about 20% of the population, then that would mean 800,000 people in Kashmir were killed by India. We cannot even assume that 8,000 people were killed by India (only .2%).

You can point out that India has a lot of poverty (as I'm sure Pakistan does as well) but do you really think that in an arms race, Pakistan can outlast India?
