In New Orleans after Katrina, the people rioted, and Louisiana governor declared that any rioters will be shot on the spot. So, if the civilians are committed arson, looting, robbery, murder in the riot, of course, the security forces have every right to kill them on the spot. For those Tibetan mobs attacking random people on the street when they are not even prepared, if this is not terrorism, then hail to 911 and London Subway explosions.

Chinese police this time is really showing extreme courtesy. I don't understand the Communist Government. Hell to the Olympics, if the government cannot kill the rioters and prevent innocent citizens from being killed on the street out of blue, this government has to be overthrown.

If the "civilians" are rioting, arsoning, murdering, looting, they are no longer civilians, but mobs. Yeah, killing your "civilians" is totally right to prevent other innocent people being killed.

This is exactly terrorism. The Tibetan mobs, by killing two civilians on the street out of blue, create terror in a region.

Of course there is no excuse for the attacks carried out on individuals who are not Tibetan but if as the protestors claim they have been victims of cultural genocide they may have good reason to protest . You suggest all the protestors are commiting serious crimes...are the monks who were beaten to the ground for chanting independence slogans deserving of such treatement ?
The Chinese police are restrained because an over reaction could provoke a boycott of the Olympics they as you and probably the Government would rather use the Tiananmen Square form of crowd control leading to the death of many hundreds maybe over 1000 people .

The Tibetan protesters would probably say the Chinese state create terror by arresting imprisoning those who dare question their authority .

OK, what is "Cultural Genocide"?? China is undergoing vehement economic and social changes. Hundreds of millions of people are pulled out of poverty. China is already the second largest luxury market and soon to be the second largest car market.

Tibet, within China, is alwo undergoing unprecedented economic and social changes. Under these changes, McDonnald, KFC, Pizza Hut, Prada, Versace, Polo, Intel, IBM, Motorola, etc., will all swamp in Tibet as well as they do in the rest of China. After the Qinghai-Tibet railway, Tibetan language has to create a new word for "railway"!!! Sure, the culture in Tibet will change. If that is labelled "Cultural Genocide", then any region, any race, any corner of the world is undergoing "Cultural Genocide"!!

Monasteries are still full of monks and nuns. Their golden temples and wall paintings have never been prettier. However, one thing that they won't have, that is a theocratic society with monasteries controlling politics and land. I am sorry, the era of Buddhist Theocracy is over, as well as Christian theocracy in other parts of the world. If they want to protest that, and if they want to go back to the period when monasteries controlled everything in the society, that is day dreaming.

During this riot, have you ever seen a Chinese police beating down a monk with only peaceful activities??? On the other hand, I saw videos of the police in New York, Sydney, Belgium, tackling those Tibetans and beating them to the ground and locking them up for just disturbing street order.

Yes, in 1989 riot, Tibetan monks use their guns transmitted into Tibet, and shot dozens of Han and Hui people on the street who have not escaped in time, even vowing to have gun fight with police. That is a f**king war!! Afterwards, China has to take away all the guns (no gun ownership in China regardless of the ethnicity) they have and punish those responsible monks and nuns for mass murdering. That is what you see when the police crashing into the monasteries in 1989.

Tiananmen Incident is another story. Tiananmen students never had guns, and they are really never violent. However, the crash in Tibet monasteries in 1989 is the only option.

Well the main reasons for the protests are obviously to do with Independence the protests began on 10 March the anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule . Any symbolism to do with an independent /autonomous Tibet is of course suppressed the Tibetan people would no doubt view this as an attack on their culture their identity .
Nothing to do with McDonald's ! ...they can be blamed for many things but rioting in Tibet is a step to far.
As for Monasteries still full of monks... are you sure... the BBC report that 600 monks had been flown overnight on military planes from Lhasa to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan.
The source was told that the monks were transported because the authorities feared they would become a focus for protests if they stayed in Lhasa.

This is about self determination it matters little if you or i believe they are right it matters what the majority of people in Tibet want .China will always face troubles in this region as long as the people there feel they are being oppressed ,victimised ,occupied some sort of autonomy is probably the only long term solution.

After the riot, you expect the monasteries to get away with it like nothing has happened???? Are you naive or you think all Chinese people are naive????

You wanna talk about self determination??? Nice, get Scotland, North Ireland and Quebec to self determination. You talk as if nobody knows how Britian and Canada sabotages their self determination.

Now, Han people feel oppressed, victimized and persecuted. Do you want to guess if it is 1.3 billion Han people's determination that is more important or a portion of Tibetan terrorists' determination more important.

The only long term solution is to learn from how Americans treat Native Indians. That is the brightest decision that the British descendents have ever made.
