As Nigeria is one of the most powerfull nations on the continent, but also a very troubledd country, this will have to be watvched closely!

I don't particularly like Yar'adua, if I remember correctly he was governor of an area that introduced Sharia law. But Nigeria really needs stability, and this instability could cause serious problems. The inter-ethnic violence has died down from its peak, but could rise again.

Sebelius for VP, not Hillary

I think the sad thing was that there so much time in advance to prepare for the one that elected Yar'Adua, yet it was so badly botched. I agree with Oz that stability is needed most. My initial feeling after the election was that they should just go ahead and let Yar'Adua serve his term, since it was the first transfer of civilian power from one civilian to another.

Who knows if the next election will be better run than the first? Guess we'll have to see what they do.

I hear what you are sayin, but the other side of the coin is that IF the court decides against the President, and IF he accepts it and another election is held, it will show the people of Nigeria that Civilian rule has truly come to Nigeria, as the Rule of Law does prevail, and even those in office are subject to it. Things taken for grnted in the west, but not always seen in Africa.

That is true, and I think it's a positive indication that he allowed the courts to investigate without resistance.
