Zim church attacks 'concerning': Africa: Zimbabwe: News24

Nothing is sacred in this country anymore. Now even church brother against church brother is the norm in this country devided.

Mbeki visits Zimbabwe as talks intensify : Mail & Guardian Online

After his humilating defeat in the ANC elections, President Mbeki seems to be stepping up a bit. but I am still afraid the pressure he is putting on Zim is way too little way too late

What do you think Zuma will do regarding Zimbabwe?

Impossibl to say. When courting votes, he did hint at a more hard line, but thn, many of his policies eco Mugabe's. Many people are scared he will follow in the footsteps of old Bob. So to be honest, we just do not know.

Zim invites banned Daily News: Africa: Zimbabwe: News24

Don't know if this is a result of President Mbeki's 4 hour talk with Bobby, but it is one little piece of good news, a little light in a very dark story.

And even better:

Zanu-PF 'likely to split': Africa: Zimbabwe: News24

This might be the best news in a looooong time. These powerhouse parties in Southern Africa are falling apart, which means their strangle hold on power is losening. In Namibia the ruling SWAPO (more than 70% of seats in parlament) recently split (a high level meaningful split) here the ANC is in turmoil, and there is still changes of a split, and now also Mugabe's once unbeatable party.

Let's hold thumbs

It would be brilliant if they did split. Of course, it is unlikely that Mugabe would lose, but it might be the beginning of the end at least.

Good luck to him. I think this is the best chance for change. With the support of other Zanu-PF members, he's less likely to fall victim to Mugabe's normal method of winning elections, ie kidnappings, violence, etc.
Of course, I doubt that he would be a paragon of human rights, but at least he might sort out the economy.
