It wasn't given, it was always there. But the same un-intuitive idea's apply to god.

How then did all the items in the universe just create themselves? How can they merely come into being without being created? How can you tell me that the universe has always existed when we have a highly probable theory that suggests that it was created through an explosion of mass proportions and energy? What too gave the atom or whatever it was the means of a violent reaction in which it was able to erupt, spawning the universe?
