I have said it before and I will say it again. This country is for ALL people the religious, racial and homophobic intolerance in this country has made us weaker as a whole. This country is a melting pot of all diffrent ethnic, and relgious beliefs with that in mind why do we as a country feel we need to micromanage and sensor everything? This is NOT about christians alone its about all relgions what ever happened to live and let live, and respect for others beliefs even if they dont match your own?
Like I said, this country is sue happy and so PC now it makes me want to vomit and its not the Governments fault its our fault as citizens for being so intolerant that the govt has to act.

And fundamentalist Christians and Muslims have recently gotten "offended" by Halloween (a secular holiday... and another one that the average person probably has no idea of the actual history of and instead links it to "satan" which is apparently the link it is being given now to religion) and raised a stink which is causing it to be removed from schools as well.
See how that works?
There is a separation of church and state for a reason. Public schools are "state". Religion is "church".
Many schools have no problems letting children wear religious symbols. Is it illegal in the United States for one to wear religious symbols? I don't think so.
What would be illegal would be public prayer during a public school event (especially led by the school's staff). There is a time and place for that and it is not at school
because it is
exclusionary. If a child wants to pray before lunch, there should be no problem with that. It should not be led by faculty as they are public property during the school day and are meant to be teaching and/or making sure the kids are safe. Your religion is supposed to be private and personal.
It makes much more sense and is easier to exclude all religions from public schools. If you want your child to be surrounded by <your religion> then you need to send them to a private school. Others do not want to be excluded in their learning environment and religion has absolutely nothing to do with public school except for the few that offer a religious studies class or two.
