I suggest you read up more, indian army and british indian army two types were there, they fought together.

after 1998 sanctions came in they took away all work and software then we had to "Restart" LCA project from square zero.
one guy developed the whole set of FBW and aerodynamic control software to manipulate FBW, then designning started.
also it became a quadruplex FBW system.
surprisingly more than 6 countries now wants to buy that software.
sanctioned ISRO, now they say our IRS is unparallal as it offers Real Stereo Images compared to Pseudo Stereo.. and things like that.

now a days they have realized its better to make friends, we are but on independent foreign policy.
not to mention we are overtlky cautious when buying anything american weapons etc etc ...u kno hehe strings attached which we hate.
