Something is woefully wrong here. These cruise missiles were probably fitted with the advanced W80 nuclear warhead. Most nuclear weapons in transit are ferried aboard USAF cargo planes. It seems that these cruise missiles were affixed to aircraft's wing pylons.
The United States has a computerized database that keeps track of every nuclear weapon in the US arsenal. A red flag should have been raised with the mode of transport... a B-52 instead of a C-130 Hercules.
It should be impossible to mistake a nuclear-tipped cruise missile for a conventional HE cruise missile. Color-coded identification numbers are an integral part of the fail-safe regimen. It is extremely disturbing that six nuclear weapons were unaccounted for during the 3.5 hour flight.
