How do you know they don't have that ability? They can't tell you. You can only assume things. Your inference could be completely wrong.
They could be self-reflecting in front of your face and you couldn't possibly know it.
If you couldn't talk, how do you think you would be acting? Do you think it would affect your behaviour?
They can't prove it by speaking, they could still be doing it.
