Often sly people inject idiotic theories into public debate knowing that there are many who will say, wait a minute this is real. In the case of Jesus's kid...somewhere in Europe a male descendant of Jesus is alive and waiting to lead Europe in the war of the saints. Goebbels would be in hysterics.
