By the standard used for the last century, Ron Paul is an isolationist. And while I consider isolationism to be a defensible policy, it is not something that can be done overnight, or even in one Presidential term, at least not responsibly.

Even going by your definition, you should be happy with Paul in that case. He has stated very clearly that these things cannot be done in the time he would be president. He advocates starting down the path. He advocates starting immediately to build the foundation required to start rebuilding a free country again.
