RealClearPolitics - Election 2008 - General Election: Giuliani vs. Clinton
I've been saying for a while now that Romney isn't a GOP shot in the foot. I remember when Giuliani was handidly winning in the early polls against Clinton, and I also remember when Romney was polling less than 30% against Clinton (note: Republicans make up more than 30% of the country). However, I've been pointing to Giuliani's decline in polls against Clinton, and Romney's constant rise in the polls. Giuliani has come back and is leading by 1% according to the latest poll (RCP average shows him trailing by 1.8%). However, Romney is also leading Clinton by 1% according to the latest poll (RCP average showing him trailing by 4.8%).
What is important to notice here isn't the actual showings in the polls, but the trend of the movement. Giuliani was falling and falling, but has recently had rising polls. Romney, on the other hand, has constantly had better and better showings against Clinton and, according to the very latest poll, is now beating her.
The polls show Rudy and Mitt having a much harder time against Obama and Edwards, which I suppose is reason for Republican members on this site to STOP SMEARING HILLARY!!!

... Save it for after she wins the nomination.
