Ron Paul Blimp Flying Over Raleigh (This IS WHAT OUR PRESIDENCY Signifies Today)
Quote:

RALEIGH - No, you're not imagining things. That really is a Ron Paul for President blimp flying over the City of Raleigh today.
Organizers for the blimp took off this morning at 8am at the Airship Management Hangar in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and they are on their way to Chester, South Carolina where they will make their first stop.
This afternoon, the blimp will be flying over north Raleigh and will most likely be visible from Interstate 540 at some point, said Bryce Henderson, a media coordinator for the effort.
Organizers say the current schedule has it passing over Raleigh at 1 pm, Greensboro at 3pm, Charlotte at 5pm and landing in Chester, SC around 6pm. The blimp will spend the night in Chester and then head to Columbia, South Carolina in the morning.
Organizers say that the public can follow along on the inaugural trip as the blimp’s coordinates are relayed to Ron Paul Blimp via GPS and a live camera feed will also be inside the blimp’s cabin, broadcasting events in real time to Live Video - Justin.tv.
Organizers cautioned that the are assuming weather conditions are agreeable.
"Simply to take the blimp out of the hanger requires the wind speed to be under 15 knots," said orgnizers in a statement to the media.
Supporter for Ron Paul, who is running for President on the Republican ballot, raised the close to $300,000 necessary to place the advertisement on the blimp. Ron Paul has been in the news quite a bit lately as a candidate who has gained much momentum via the Internet. His supporters recently made over $4 million in campaign donations in one day at his website.
Trevor Lyman, who was one of the key figures behind the massive Ron Paul fundraising effort, also helped organize the blimp trip and will be on board.

El-Ron, Just when you think politics can't get any cheaper or trashier, this happens.
Are these campaigns being run by former used car salesmen?
Just pathetic. It's time the Republican delegation kick him out.

Your party does a fine job of making itself look dumpy.
I don't see what the big deal is with renting a blimp and flying it over cities. No more dumpy than some of the other tactics used in politics everyday.

Good. The Republican party, as well as some of the Democrats have become a mockery and a full-time embarrassment to American politics. They brought it on themselves by making foolish and stupid decisions over the last few years, starting with voting to get us into an illegal war in the first place. If you don't want people mocking your party, don't waste our tax money, don't make cheap shots and think before you sign a bill.
And that picture above me, it takes no skill to photograph something that happened before the event takes place.

And? He may not have signed anything but he's getting behind the support of selected issues. Do you even know what Giuliani's platform is like?

He's never been in the congress before. How could he have signed anything? I hardly view him having no national political experience a plus.
Giuliani did manage to run up over $10 billion in debt in new York City though.

Neo-Cons are running the party with prestige???? Last I checked the Republican party was in the dumps, on a collision course to lose the presidency, and lose even more seats in the congress. Not to mention the various scandals, including anonymous gay bathroom sex.
All this without even mentioning the monstrous federal deficit and debt, fiscally irresponsibility, and never ending foreign wars.
Give me the party of Goldwater back.

That man would sell his soul to anyone to get elected and that makes him the most easiest to buy of them all.

I don't see how spending $300,000 to fly a blimp over North and South Carolina is a waste of money. Aside from mass media attention (which Ron Paul gets none of) I can't think of a more effective way for him to get his name out. As far is money is concerned, he has been holding on to pretty much everything he has earned until now, and he has just begun spending. He has already earned 11.5 million this quarter and expect another 5 million+ during the Tea Party on Sunday in addition to the 2 or 3 million he had coming into the quarter. In recent weeks he has released several radio and television ads in New Hampshire and Iowa, however I think the creativity of this tactic might draw some added attention.
