Is Mrs. Clinton the last best hope for women?
I am not a Clinton supporter during this election season. I personally don't want her to get the Democratic nomination...for numerous reasons.... none of which, however, include her being a female.
But I do wonder.... We all know that Clinton is the first woman with a real chance to become president, but is she the last? At least for quite sometime?
I can't think of any other prominent female politicians who would have an actual chance of winning the White House. Condi Rice is probably the next best-known female in the government circles, but we all know she'd never run.
So is Clinton the first and last -- at least for a long time -- woman to have a real shot at the Oval Office?
What say others?

For the next 10-20 years I would say so. But other women will surly step up to the plate. In fact, that may very well be better seeing as how the country needs someone who will not polarize the population even more.

You never know, I don't see why the Reps can't run a woman in their elections. We got a Mormon this time. There are female Republicans in the House and Senate. I guess realistically speaking though, none of them are famous, so we won't be seeing any female reps in the forseeable future. As for the Dems, we don't have any outstanding women that I can think of. I'd say it's reasonable that if Hillary gets shot down now, then no women for at least another election cycle.
However, I think Obama practically appeared in one day on the Democratic Convention in 2004, it's possible that a great female candidate could come out of nowhere sometime.

Republicans would pick someone like Liddy Dole to run for president. Whatever anyone sees in Hillary to make them hate her, that is the same thing I see in Liddy that makes me hate her.
She is even meaner than her husband..

Personally I don't believe this should be an issue. Gender should neither be a positive or negative when seeking public office. People should vote based upon the candidates history and agenda regardless of gender.
Unfortunately I believe that Hillary Clinton, if elected, might spoil any near-term opportunities for women to become president. If we are going to elect a woman president I would hope it would be one that would get the US out of Iraq and stop US imperialism abroad. Now, if "that woman" runs I will support her.

What do you mean the "last best hope for women"? You talk as if women are being oppressed or denied of rights. We have more women in government positions then blacks or mexicans . Women have the same opportunity as men. We should be talking about is she the last best hope for America. Anyone who can vanquish 10T in debt and increase foreign diplomatic relations is alright with me.

I don't think so. I think that there will be more women, but I'm tired of non-political people complaining that there aren't enough women running for offices, like it's some kind of conspiracy. For some reason there are just far fewer women interested in politics than men, just like there are far fewer women interested in construction, engineering, et cetera. I'm sure that we can find things where there are far more women interested than men, such as nutrition, modeling, fashion design et cetera. There's no conspiracy to keep men out of those, it's just that the male interest on those areas isn't as strong as the female interest.
Another factor as to why fewer women run for office is because there are still one-income families in America, where one parent takes care of the kids and home while the other provides the income, and for all obvious reasons the males tend to provide the income.

You know I would seriously pray to God that she wouldn't win the election, at least I would if I actually thought she had a chance. I think that Hillary has a much better shot at winning than Pelosi would, and I don't think that Hillary's chances are getting any better... Though I don't doubt that Pelosi would try to get the nomination in the future.

Pelosi is one of the least successful speakers in recent history, she wouldn't stand a chance.
Like someone said earlier in this thread, A Woman could come from nowhere at a convention and become a top candidate like Obama.
