'Hillary drag': Democrats Fear She Will Destroy Them If Nominated

Source: Inside Politics*-*-*The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

Quote:
"The Era of the Red State Democrat will have suffered a very short reign if Hillary Clinton wins her party's nomination next year, at least according to the fears of some members of her party," Jim Geraghty writes at National Review Online (National Review Online).

"While 2006 saw impressive Democratic wins on traditionally Republican turf, most notably Jim Webb in Virginia, Jon Tester in Montana, Nancy Boyda in Kansas, and Heath Shuler in North Carolina, some red-state Democrats warn that the 'Hillary drag' may eviscerate their ranks in 2008," Mr. Geraghty said.

"Some are quiet about it, like the 39 Democratic state and local officials who told the Associated Press they would talk about their fears of Hillary Clinton dragging them down only if they could remain anonymous, fearing reprisals from the Clintons.

"But some are louder, like Dave "Mudcat" Sanders, a consultant for John Edwards' campaign, and one of the most colorful and lively Democratic strategists in America. He puts it simply: 'Edwards has coattails; Hillary has anti-coattails.' ...

"One Democratic strategist, who works for a candidate preparing to challenge an incumbent Republican in a deep red district in the Midwest, has put together a list of 37 vulnerable rural or red-district House Democrats. Republicans would need to win 16 to retake control of the House."
Can't be. WE are consistently told that Hillary is a shoo-in and even Republicans believe it.

Hillary has more baggage than even the average Democrat. The whole party is corrupt, but none more the Clintons.

Besides if Republicans do their job and TELL the American people over and over and over again that Democrats are bad for their security--they're definitely soft on fighting terrorism.

Democrats are bad for our economic security--they want to raise taxes which will kill the economy. Not only that, Hillary wants to control all of health care and energy.

Democrats are responsible for our sky-high energy costs. They care more about a snail darter than saving our economy.

Democrats will destroy all borders. They pander to illegal immigrants because they view each illegal as another voter--legal, or illegal, they don't care.

There is not one reason to vote for a Democrat but the people have to be told and Republicans are notoriously bad at telling them.

I thought that I got the idea at first, but then after reading the OP I was getting increasingly confused.

I find that, just generally speaking, a good presidential candidate has experience and name recognition, but not too much. It seems to me like Hillary has a lot of experience, but too much name recognition which means that there are already too bad things to tag on her, and most people already know what to think about her. Obama, on the other hand, seems to be too inexperienced and not have enough real name recognition, that of which he has he's received because of extreme views. The two main Democrat candidate, IMO, don't look like good runners.

IMO the Republicans have a better selection as far as elecibility is concerned.
