And it isn't that I'm not up on things. Granted I don't sit around reading demographic data or anything, but all I ever hear about is how the republican party is only a party for white christians. So my logic is, if this is the prevailing opinion, that repubs are snobby rich white christians, why would minorities want to run on their ticket? Don't people with republican stances like Condi Rice and Bill Cosby get criticized and called uncle Toms for their stances?

More than just white Christians vote republicans.
Actually I would say white protestants...
White catholics have long voted predominately democratic.
Also I would not say the "rich people" are always the same as the Christians.
CHristian fundamentalist do not tend to be rich, in fact more often then not they are poor and lowly educated...the REpublican party is not a monolith.
As far as Cosby...that has nothing to do with how one votes in the voting both. No one around me knows my exact political views because most people don't talk about them to strangers, at work, or for the most part in public.
I have also, never in my life, heard a black person stand face to face with another black person (adults) and call the person a "sellout"...that is just not going to fly. Public figures...whatever...real world, real life people, nope.
Also most black people have long been middle class but still vote democrat solidly unlike whites who are more split.
