There's a reason they call themselves the Black Republicans.

You constantly make overt racist statements and then try to hide behind it instead of manning up and admitting your a a racist. Own it and be proud of it.
I don't F'ing listen to any of that crap you talked about just like I don't assume you listen to country music or Tool or NIN, because I don't know you and you don't know me. Got it?
Despite your stereotypes rappers do not influence my political leanings.

And the problem I have seen for the Democrats is recognizing what is happening with the Republicans, but generally limiting efforts to non whites, females and the young to rhetoric while still generally sticking to white, male, middleaged and elderly candidates themselves. In other words, taking them for granted instead of giving them real empowerment to run non white, female and young candidates at a rate to equal their percentages in the party. However, things are starting to change.

That was the most intelligent statement on this thread.

Those candidates losing had nothing to do with them being black. Ken Blackwell lost in Ohio partly due to the amount of scandal surrounding the Ohio GOP and the Republican governor being prosecuted on corruption issues.
Lynn Swann ran an absolutely terrible gubernatorial campaign in Pennsylvania and that is the primary reason he lost.
Michael Steele in Maryland almost won his Senate race actually. He didn't lose by that much and that was pretty impressive considering how overwhelmingly Democrat the State of Maryland is and how unpopular the Republican brand was last year.

According to a Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies survey, only 22% of black voters believe in limited government (versus 69% who believe in a larger government providing more services). That same survey shows that 27% of blacks consider themselves conservative. However, clearly they are conservative Democrats or independents because only 10% of black voters self-identify as Republicans. The Republican Party will not get the majority of black votes anytime soon. It is strategically wiser for the political party to shave off black support in key swing states (a la Bush in Ohio in 2004, where he doubled his black vote from 2000) - among blacks who favor smaller government and/or consider themselves conservatives but are clearly not regularly voting for Republican presidential candidates - to deny Democrats a presidential victory. It is strategically much wiser for Republicans to focus more on the Hispanic vote, as 30% of Hispanics voted for Bush in 2004 and the GOP gets more bang for the buck there. It should be noted that black Republicans should partly blame themselves here. If they want more black folks to vote Republican, then they need to be on the ground a lot more in black communities - and not just at election time - getting their message out there.

America's demographics are:
USA QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau
66% white (European + Middle East and North African)
14% Hispanic
13% black
4% Asian
3% (Pacific Islander/Native)
We are about 51% female.
Why have no black Republican candidates run with their name at the front of the ticket ever won a statewide election?

Well if you look at the Republican party like that then you should also notice that the Democrat party disproportionately runs minority candidates. It seems that in the Democrat party being a white male makes nomination impossible for people like John Edwards.
But I suppose that if you want to look at it in a completely objective manner than I would say that while whites make up 66% of the population according to those statistics, they make up a much larger block of the voting group, and that's all that really matters in an election. Another part of that aspect could be that electoral votes go by state, which totally changes the election. For example, while doing some research I found that 70% of the black population lives in the South, an area that Republicans repeatedly win in so, if we're talking about appealing to race, why should Republicans try to appeal to minorities when they technically win the electoral votes of 70%+ of the minorities?

This is only imo, but i believe that african american republicans are usually portrayed as "acting white" "uncle tom's" by many african americans. Just look at the things Condi and Powell were called. I think it is a horrible thing and i hate it but i do believe this is a major factor.
Also i love hearing Keyes speak, he's awesome. Also wish JC Watts was still in politics... I loved hearing him speak. I think he could have ran for pres and won given a few more years.
