If you are in the service and refuse to go, you get a Courts Martial. If you are found guilty, yes, you can and may be put to death. You will at least get a loooooooong prison term.

People join the military for different reasons. For training or schooling because this government has put schooling financially out of reach for some people or maybe for a paycheck or maybe they drank the kool aid. In case you don't know, there are a lot of poor in this country.

Why do you think we don't like Hezbollah and Hamas are considered enemies even though they were elected democratically? If you don't think like the powers, then you are the enemy. Why do you think Osama bin Laden is still at large? The powers have benefited from 9/11 more than al Qaeda has. Because of that incident, we now don't have TRUE freedom of speech and our Fourth Amendment rights are being violated. For those that aren't up to date with the constitution, the 4th amendement protects the citizens from illegal search and siezure. Thanks to the "Patriot Act," the FBI, CIA, and any police agency can search any of your belongings wothout warrent and without telling you they were there. SO don't call Kucinich a traitor when he prefers the diplomatic choice over the war choice.

And this is just for you Superdude. Abraham Lincoln was one of the worst presidents the United States ever had. He did more to dismantle the Constitution than any president before him.
