What would the U.S need?

My personal bias here, is that the U.S would need a Atheistic Openminded Black President, and this, would make the United States and the World a much safer place.

If he is atheistic, He would likely be intelligent and well-read. And would have him being open minded and being aware of his actual countries defects, and being open and looking at other nations on how to act and be towards its fellow man domestic or foreign.

What do you guys think?

None of the above...

First and foremost, what the U. S. needs is a president who will - after taking the oath of office - get US the hell out of Iraq within six months and with limited (if any) tragic consequece(s).

In my opinion we need a president who:

* Is a Democrat (most importantly so that the Supreme Court does not become any more conservative, and there might be a lower chance of it getting packed with partisans)
* Is a uniter (not Hillary)
* Is not a liberal (not Obama)
* Is a centrist (Biden, maybe Edwards, I prefer Edwards since he doesn't have Biden's past indescretions (plagiarism) as baggage)
* Is not in favor of cut and run in Iraq
* Is willing to look at the country's growing fiscal problems as well as the healthcare issue

* Race and gender are irrelevant

I find atheists to be unbearable bores that are far from open-minded, and that usually border on the irrational. Agnostics I find to be open-minded, as well as conventionally religious people (i.e. Catholics and mainline Protestants).

Race of the president doesn't matter.

The safest we can have is a tough-minded president, not overly open-minded ones. Jimmy Carter, to me, is the epitome of an overly open-minded president.

You really believe that is possible? I beg to differ. There will be tragic consequences when we pull out unless the date of that pull-out is in 20 yeasr, after having made the commitment to help Iraq for the duration. It can be done, but not in any short or even moderately long period of time. If it's worth staying at all, we have to stay for the long haul. If not, just get out now and let the country fall to pieces. Because if we pull out now, that is what will happen, hands down. There is no way to avoid it besides stayin until we know it's fixed. But getting out in six months with no tragic consequences, or even limited tragiv consequences, is merely very wishful thinking.

We need a President that won't lie to us. I think the last time we had one was in the early 1800s. We need a president that believes in a non-interventionalist view of foreign policy. We need a president that encourages people to get a job and abandon the welfare system.

The poll was too biased for me to vote. Race is nothing but a word in any presidential election to me.

I voted for atheist, because I'm an atheist, but I don't really care what particular religion they follow so long as they don't allow it to influence their decisions. Your comments about religion show your intolerance of others' beliefs...

Why does race matter? Why would a black man do a better job than an Asian man, or a white man for that matter? Race means nothing.

Foreigners can't be president in America. Study up.

The only real important quality to me is that they are not a firmly entrenched part of the militaristic machine. I don't believe the US stands a chance if we continue to try to nation build militarily. I guess I would like them to be:
Not macho...... like Hillary
Not owing rich old guys everything.... like Obama
Experienced ........like Dodd and Biden
Revolutionary ........like Ron Paul
Keepin it real even if I don't like it all.......like Mike Huckaby
Common sense.......like Mike Gravel

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my choice for president, so much for secret ballot, I'm voting for Hillary, they just haven't proved to me that she's a cold hearted bitch, and her stand on just about everything is closest to mine....objectively.
