Obama says nuclear weapons are off the table

Quote:
Obama says use of nuclear weapons to fight al-Qaida 'not on the table'...

Obama said in grilling with AP reporter Thursday he would not use nuclear weapons 'in any circumstance' to fight terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan...
Quote:
I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance,» Obama said, with a pause, «involving civilians.» Then he quickly added, «Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table.
Well Sen. Obama just got rid of the U.S trump card.

Thoughts all add more of mind latter

I wouldn't ever want us to use nukes on them, but GD, even if we will not use them do you have to tell them that?

Good, we don't need to spend more money to make unecesarry weapons that would kill civillians and create more devastation.

Nuclear weapons are more of a deterrent and are very good for our society. Because we have nukes, other countries fear us more, therefore they listen to us. Works out.

Nukes are never good, they are terrible weapons that destroy people's lives and country. Because we have nukes other countries fear us and therefore listen? Oh yeah? Then how come North Korea, and countries in the middle east neither fear us nor listen? Countries shouldn't listen because they're scared we're going to blow them up, they should listen because they are allies.

Nukes are what saved this country from being destroyed.

Because we have politicians who don't have balls to do something about it. At the same time, we have signed on to certain treaties that have said we won't use nuclear force. However, those countries damn well know our nuclear capability and would never test us. it's one thing to spit words, its another to act.

How so? World War two? That was a last resort and in that case was probally needed. But still nukes are bad and should be used only as a last, and i mean last resort.

I'd agree that our nuclear capabilities as well as the concept of mutually assured destruction kept us free from attack during the cold war.

Tactical and strategic nuclear weapons have their place in our arsenal.

Okay I agree that it did help us from destruction in the cold war but even then that wasn't untill they had already pointed nuclear weapons at us. So lik i said use it as a last resort.
