Sec'y of Defense Gates is experienced, tough, TV-genic, and has shown himself to have a heart. He could beat any of the Democratic presidential candidates in 2008. He is part of the Bush administration, but he can stand apart from the neocons who have been ruining our country. Indeed, if he can come up with a reasonable plan for the exodus of most of our forces from Iraq, he will be a sterling candidate - far better than Jiulianni, Romney and Thompson.

As a Leftie, I could not vote for Gates, but I would like to see him teach Clinton, Pelosi and Reid a good lesson. The Democrats deserve nothing but contempt for refusing to impeach Cheney and Bush.

he would be a great VP w/ Giuliani. That would be a guarantee for the next Presidency.
