OBERLIN, Ohio says Impeach Bush
According to the 5/22/07 Columbus Dispatch, Ohio's capital city's largest newspaper:
City is first in state to pass such a measure.
OBERLIN, Ohio - In front of residents wearing "Impeach Bush and Cheney" buttons, the Oberlin City Council voted unanimously to ask the House of Representatives to do just that.
Ohio being a pivotal state in any presidential election this is very telling of the discontent brewing.

Wow. I know Oberlin is a college town but still, I'm impressed. Do the corps really have such a tight leash on our reps. I guess our reps fear the corps more than the people. That has often proven unwise in the past.

Well you obviously know the area, knowing it's a college town. I don't think there's probably a real chance at an Impeachment at this late date but symbolically it sends a major signal to the Republicans about the next election.
Ohio went Democratic in both Clinton victories and Republican in both Bush wins... not hard to do the math from there on how important Ohio can be.

It doesn't send any signal whatsoever. Oberlin is a very liberal town and the only few places that have passed these impeach Bush resolutions have been very far left towns. It means nothing and should surprise nobody.

Yes, Ohio is a vital state for winning the presidency. I believe that no Republican has ever won the White House without winning Ohio. However, Ohio's influence is waining. They lost an electoral vote after the last census and will probably lose another after 2010. As the southern and western states dramatically increase in population, Ohio will become less important, but for no it is certainly a golden goose for the key to the White House.

Like it or not, you know Bush doesn't pay much attention to his detractors and I don't see this incident as any different.

The fact local Town Counsels are going as far as to vote to Impeach Bush isn't important????????? This isn't some people don't like Bush... this is IMPEACH the guy! This is the beginning of the end of anything Republican in Ohio. I hope the Republicans all think it's "nothing"... that would be GREAT!

That's good I'll be sure to tell everybody here in Columbus that the Republicans think our "influence is waining"... they'll get a kick out of that and put it to the test come November 08.

He doesn't pay attention to his detractors OR his supporters and advisors.
