why does he want Ron Paul out of the race? It is because he has the rep. because it is a republican debate, not a conservative debate. Just because he doesn't agree with Ron Paul, he doesn't think Ron Paul should even be in the debate?

Even as a fairly solid liberal, I liked McCain in 2000 more than almost every liberal candidate. I think he’s lost his edge though. He’s really gone downhill.

And what would be wrong with him questioning foreign policy? Particularly in respect to the fact that the 9/11 report and the CIA essentially agrees with him?

He didn't question our foreign policy. He stated with absolute certainty that our foreign policy was THE cause of 9/11.

Absolutely incorrect. Please go back and listen to what he actually said.

I did. And I've also followed the man long enough to know what he meant by his words. Those of you who are new to the Ron Paul fan club don't know him well.

Ron Paul has always been one of my heroes, but I disagree with him strongly and don't think he should be let anywhere near the White House. He should be running for governor or Senator, where he can do more good. America isn't ready for a sharp turn towards isolationism.

For those of you with a mistaken understanding of what he stands for, you really should read his comments closely. He is exactly what is needed at this time as president. A breath of integrity, mixed with a return to the principles put forth by the founding fathers.

You equate someone who wishes to trade with the entire world as an isolationist. Let me help you with the dictionary:

i·so·la·tion·ism (ī'sə-lā'shə-nĭz'əm) Pronunciation Key
n. A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.

Please try to understand what he stands for. Try not to listen to the sound bytes, although I understand it's easy for the people who don't take the time.

Those who were known as isolationists way back when favored economic relations with other nations. They simply didn't favor alliances or memberships in international bodies.

By the standard used for the last century, Ron Paul is an isolationist. And while I consider isolationism to be a defensible policy, it is not something that can be done overnight, or even in one Presidential term, at least not responsibly.

Even going by your definition, you should be happy with Paul in that case. He has stated very clearly that these things cannot be done in the time he would be president. He advocates starting down the path. He advocates starting immediately to build the foundation required to start rebuilding a free country again.
