Why is everyone calling Obama a BLACK MAN?

Obama isn't black, he's mixed race.

When will he start being called what he really is?

I don't know what country you come from, but in America all mulattos are simply referred to as black by the US media. Hell I don't think half to population knows Tiger Woods is half Asian. At any rate Obama sees to identify himself as such regardless.

you have to refer to him as black because black people want a black president. if you refer to him as half black / half white, then they would have to share his presidency with white people.

i remember his speech during the '04 convention. even then people where mentioning him as possibly the first black president. before he had even won his first US senate seat. he's been groomed to be the first black president, and so history shall record it, unless condoleeza rice beats him.

my only concern about him is that he's not ready yet. it would be good if clinton won the nomination and he had to wait 4 or 8 years. he'd be an even better candidate then. i think he's been rushed up the ranks too quickly, because people want to have a black president. he's so young he could easily wait until next time. he'd be even smarter, more experienced, and have more history to show people what he's about. unlike most candidates, obama would be a better president 8 years from now, is what i'm saying.

Not ready yet?

Do you want to wait until Obama is thoroughly indoctrinated into the usual corrpution that runs our nation?

Please define what "ready" means.....He knows the Constitution as he taught the subject at a university. Will he be ready when he finds a way to invest illegally in the Oil Corporations? Will he be ready when he starts bopping interns?

Thanks for the chuckle

Americans think of race as appearance, not ethnicity. If Obama looked white, he would be called white, even if he was half black, half white. Similarly, I am half-Irish, half-German. In the past, Irish immigrants were oppressed in America, but that didn't matter eventually because we look white and nobody knows the difference.

I do find it a bit interesting that Obama is repeatedly referred to (in the discussion of race) as a black guy with a white mom, not a white guy with a black dad.

I'm actually doing a report on mixed ethnicity Americans right now and Obama is one of the people that I am focusing on (amongst a number of others and some personal experiences of mine). I hope more develops on this thread.

Tiger Woods is 5/8 Asian, 1/4 black, and 1/8 white, yet he is most commonly referred to as Black. Figure that one out.

His skin is black. I just figured it out.

When you say you're white that's a reference to skin color. White and black are not ancestral backgrounds, they're skin colors - and colors the 64pk crayola box.

We don't call Indians black. It does imply ancestral background.
