I don't think a MLK national holliday is that important either way, but the arguments against it that Shiva pointed out make sense to me. I don't think it should be an issue.

BTW, if MLK hadn't been assasinated and were still alive, don't you think conservatives would be depicting him as anti American. Fox News would probably be calling him crazy or a "reverse racist".

MLK jr. Should have a holiday because he didn't have some shady background or poor history like lincoln and colombus did. People like Lincoln, when looked at closely, can be seen for what they really are. They weren't the great men they were made out to be. MLK jr. was.
As a child and adult I have read about most of what has been written about
Lincoln. Havent seen much about his shady background but Im not privy to many underground websites and discussions. Please enlighten us more about Lincoln and even Washington.
