I was also inclined to say that you'r right on the gay rights and abortion issue...I'm not sure about abortion, but the strongest party in Austria is still effectively blocking gays from being allowed to marry/engage in civil unions. But these are rather marginal issues, so I wouldn't know if any conclusion could be drawn from there to the general opinion of the people. Overall I'd say you'r right, "we" are for abortion and gay rights though.

I honestly have never heard any Euopean talking about creationism appart from when using it as a joke or making fun of it

Yuo are right about some Europeans disliking the political/religious scenario. This particular European detests it and I have been fairly vocal on my thoughts on that over here.
