Is Chelsea Clinton fair game?
Latest post from: Chelsea asked about Monica ( Chelsea asked about Monica - First Read - msnbc.com)
Someone asked her about the whole Lewinsky mess; she replied that she hadn't been asked that at any other time and told the questioner she didn't think it was any of his business.
Turns out, the questioner is actually a big fan of Hillary's and was wondering if what we saw about her (Hillary) during that time period was evidence of HRC's strong character.
I happen to believe that since she is 28 and campaigning for her mom, apparently at times without her mom there, that anyone can ask her anything.
I don't think people should bash her certainly, but that whole scandal (and many, many others) is on people's mind.
What do y'all think?

I think that she should not be fair game, unless she starts becoming a mudslinger herself, which is unlikely given how ugly that would look. She's just a kid. She should be able to campaign for her mom without getting shat on. That being said, the recent incident was friendly fire within the Clinton camp.

Wow, gotta say you surprised me here WEB. (no offense intended)
Given your well documented ::cough, cough:: dislike for HRC, I assumed your reply would be different.
I actually admire Chelsea and believe her poise is evidence of at least one thing Bill/Hillary have done well.
That being said, in a Q & A session, with her being the only one answering, why should things of a public record re: either of her parents be off-limits?
Oh, and what did you mean by friendly fire? Does that mean it was a set up for the media, et al... in order to gain sympathy for Chelsea? Or just a snafu amongst Clinton supporters?

If she is going to be in the role of a surrogate for her mother, then yes, she should be fair game same as any other surrogate.
She's no kid.
She's 28, graduated with distinction with an undergrad degree in history from Stanford, and has a master's in International Relations from Oxford. She's no dummy. She grew up at the knees of 2 of the most skilled, win-at-any-cost political operators of this or any generation. She knows the game. The idea that she should be granted some special standing is preposterous.

Expect me to show up with a different position than what you expect. lol
I try not to be partisan. The same rules that apply to my opponents (Hillary surrogates) also have to apply to the candidate I favor (Obama surrogates).

I don't feel strongly one way or the other about Chelsea. She got the shaft, having her father being a freaking womanizer, but what kid hasn't gotten the shaft in a major way from their parents? I guess the worst part for Chelsea is that she had to live with the shit. Other kids might have been able to get away from their father in that situation. Hillary is not the conventional mom in that she places her career above her pride and self-respect as a human being.
That being said, I oppose all bullshit in general. People talking about Kerry self-inflicting his own wounds (Michelle Malkin), people saying that McCain is a Manchurian candidate, and idiots who say Obama is a Muslim. The only BS I do not oppose is when it happens to douchebags (i.e. Hillary and Bill themselves, or someone like Mitt Romney).
As for friendly fire, I'm just basically agreeing with how you pointed out that the dude who asked the annoying question was a Clinton supporter.

As you say, sir. However, I much prefer the "new politics" of Obama and McCain, even if that's just a fairy tale that cannot last.

My opinion about Chelsea is that she is no different than anybody else, like her father said,"if you don't want to be tackled don't put on the pads".I feel there is a double standard here,I wonder if she would have answered a question like (why does your mother lie)? Honestly the only thing that I really remember about the clintons white house years is THE MONICA scandal-and for it to be off limits for discussion is like leaving out the plot in a good book. Why do people feel chelsea should be shielded or protected--I don't get that at all!

She is a grown woman playing in the world of grown ups so I think she is fair game. There's an old saying over here

I guess you have not seen McCain run for a elected office I tell you he is just saving his ammo . I live here in Arizona an believe me (even though he is my guy) McCain will get a little dirty if needed . McCain is one of those politicians
who waits an holds his fire until the last few days when his attack will have its maximum effect . Kinda like don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.
