America doesn’t need the Media making a McCain mountain out of a Mole Hill!

The media isn’t acting responsibly when they make statements about Senator McCain’s misstatement in Jordan, that Iran has been training Al Qaeda in Iraq, trying to say he was having a senior moment or those remarks indicate there is a problem with Senator McCain’s knowledge or judgment on foreign policy matters. It is completely garbage, Al Qaeda is essentially comprised of Sunni Muslims, Iran is a Shiite Muslim nation, no media professional with any credibility would actually try to make the claim Senator McCain believes Iran would be taking into their country an organization of Sunnis and training them to kill and allowing them to go back into Iraq when that Sunni organization has a demonstrated track record of killing Iraqi Shiites to sow sectarian division. – no member of Congress who has been living with the Iraq issue for their term in office could be so detached from reality to believe such a reality – such an assertion is completely idiotic. Senator McCain’s statements were obviously a mistake where he was thinking one thing and was just imprecise in articulating what he was thinking, something everyone does from time to time. To appreciate the foolishness of the media assertions here, the media’s behavior on the Senator McCain’s misstatement matter would be like an Israeli leader commenting on Israel’s release of funds to Abbas’s Palestinian Authority so the Authority could buy guns for its security personnel to maintain security in its area of control and that Israeli leader making a misstatement saying that the funding will only go to buy weapons for Palestinians that are members of the Hamas party (when that leader meant to say Fatah party) and members of the media alleging that the Israel leader was supporting Israel releasing funds to buy weapons for Hamas – the media is being completely unfair with Senator McCain here.

Part of the really sad thing about this whole media created incident is that Senator McCain was referencing a serious issue on the Iraq matter which our nation needs to solve. Around Iran President Ahmadinejad’s early March trip to Iraq, General Petraeus and other high ranking U.S. officials made the statements that Iran is still training and arming Iraqi extremists groups. The meaning of these facts are that Iran is indirectly responsible and as such morally culpable for the death of U.S. soldiers that are killed by these extremists groups in Iraq, for part of the ongoing security problem in Iraq and most importantly the real potential threat of growing sectarian violence which could permanently split the country of Iraq apart thus causing the country of Iraq’s failure. Obviously, no American wants a war with Iran, that is, no American soldier to enter the territory of the country of Iran and be put in harms way in such an action; however, a country can defend its rights and the rights of its allies with the use of weapons short of war under the appropriate circumstances, such a concept is a universally and historically accepted moral principle. A really good media, a media comprised of good citizens and good human beings, would be focusing not on Senator McCain’s misstatement but how does our nation solve this McCain’s referenced problem of Iran’s lethal violation of Iraqi sovereignty. The media should be focusing on solutions like would Iran continue their aiding and abetting of Iraqi militants if the U.S. began to make Iran pay a severe price for such wrongdoing like the incurrence of large scale air bombing campaigns.

If it was a slip of the tongue, then it validates what Jim is saying and he should NOT drop it, as you suggest.

McCain suffers dementia, a convenient truth. The Republican party has been infiltrated by the megalomaniac party. The classic definitions of party affiliation are no longer descriptive of ideals that the competing factions hold. The best I can do to describe the tenets and distinctions between the elephant and the ass is that Democrats are merely aspiring Republicans and that a Republican requires the Democrat to subjugate and exploit. The only time the Republican wants constituency is during the election, otherwise they must disenfranchise and pad their egos with your subservience through money and when that fails you're guess is as good as mine.

Ted Hagee (and no doubt by default, John McCain) agrees with the original posters assertion that a simple speaking gaffe by McCain is not important. Killing IS important. We need to teach some more foreigners another valuable lesson.

The US Government simply MUST kill a few hundred thousand more innocent people in some other country in order to set loose the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ!

The media hasn't been concentrating on it. They reported it, as they should have. It's mainly the left on the internet that is pouncing on it, in part because with John McCain, you have to pounce on everything you can because he's just not that vulnerable to attack.

He's not slippery, there's just not many ways to go negative on him. While not perfect(who is?), he has the most upstanding ethical record of anyone in Congress.

So what we're left with is lefty feeding frenzies on misstatements, and constant posting of the picture of him hugging Bush.

Then every few days they whine about McCain getting a free ride with the press and no one caring that he's unfit for the Presidency.

Well, if Obama would let the press onto his bus at all times to talk about anything they wanted he'd get more positive press coverage(as well as gaffe more often).

Obama has refused to do any press conferences. He's hiding. His press coverage will naturally get worse.

I could believe that he misspoke if he'd only made this claim once - BUT HE'S MADE IT THREE TIMES!

Twice in Amman, Jordan
"taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back,"

...Pressed to elaborate, McCain said it was "common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate."
A McCain Gaffe in Jordan | The Trail | washingtonpost.com

March 17 on the Hugh Hewitt Show
"As you know, there are Al Qaeda operatives that are taken back into Iran, given training as leaders, and they're moving back into Iraq."
Transcript

This is a case of either:
a) "how stupid do you think we are?"
b) McCain does not understand mid-east politics as well as your average political junkie
c) his senior moments are getting the best of him, and he should retire. Immediately.
d) all of the above

Of course, McCain has never demonstrated that he truly understands the situation in Iraq very well:

“And I believe that the success will be fairly easy.” [CNN, Larry King Live, 9/24/02]

“I believe that we can win an overwhelming victory in a very short period of time.” [CNN Late Edition, 9/29/02]

“Do you believe that the people of Iraq or at least a large number of them will treat us as liberators?” “Absolutely. Absolutely,” replied McCain. [MSNBC, Hardball, 3/12/03]

“There’s no doubt in my mind that once these people are gone that we will be welcomed as liberators.” [MSNBC, Hardball, 3/24/03]

...so I have no misplaced trust in him as some sort of "expert".
