Those who are poor (whites and Blacks are whatever) have many self-defeating attitudes. For blacks or minorties, you have to add the past as a contributing factor. Some people keep saiding the past shouldn't matter or it shouldn't be a factor for the present ills. Then I ask you, did you learn from your grandparent? Your parents? That is aleast fifty years of experiences that influenced you. Mine parent were hard working middle-clase folks out of the depression and Jim Crow south. They had no hatre for whites, but when a white cop approach our car,you could feel the tenison raises. Even though I am a law-abidding folk like mine parent, I feel the same way when a white cop comes torward me. I know I am not facing the same racist KKK card carrying cop that mine love ones faced but the feeling is still there. Past isn,t something that is dead and forgotten. We as a people must solve over crowded school, rethink the Drug war and other ills. If one think this just a minority problem, just wait these problems will come to your neighborhood soon. It won't be a minority bringing it, but what our government allows to happen. The time to argue about the why ( or it's validations) is over. Pointing fingers is for the weak. Can we march together for a common goal( view some the later civil rights marches) such as a level educational system?
