This is the conventional wisdom on the matter. The Democratic race is neck and neck, and any little shift, even a small bit of Republican minded voters crossing over, will have a huge impact.
Though, in all fairness, I don't see why Hillary is taking all the flak for splitting the party. Obama has roughly 51% of the delegates, Hillary has roughly 49%. With the next two states favoring Hillary and another 8 states to go, this isn't a decided race. Hillary is criticized for splitting the party, but if Obama really wanted to unite the party he'd have a sit-down with Hillary and be her VP. In either case, both will want to continue fighting.

I see Hillary as more of a threat than Obama. She is more moderate and will pick up more of the independent and moderate democrat vote, which assuredly will transfer over to McCain if Obama is the nominee.

She was more moderate, Obama forced her to the left.

@ dude
You claimed: "there is a strong conservative movement (mainly spurred by rush and hannity) that believe that obama will be the easiest to beat and who will sway the most independent and moderates to the republican ticket."
I have been listening to Hannity on the radio to verify the accuracy of what you said. Thus far, it seems that what you have said is inaccurate. You already conceded that what you said about Rush is wrong. Hannity is going to discuss all of this in a few minutes. If it turns out that you mislead the forum......you will be held accountable for it.

OK, I just heard him say something to the effect of I can tell you with confidence that if Obama won the nomination he would be extremely easy to beat, I would just ask him "have you ever met Louis Farrakahn?"
OK, I accept your assertion, dude.

That does indeed sound like something that Sean Hannity would say.
As usual, Sean's point is weak. Yes, Obama has undoubtedly met Farrakhan. But Obama has made it very clear that he strongly disagrees with Farrakhan's anti-Semitism and has denounced his endorsement.
On the other hand, Pastor John Hagee of Texas is just as hateful and prejudiced as Farrakhan - he has made very hateful remarks against Catholics, Muslims, gays and women...he's even held "Slave sales" at his church and said that Hurricane Katrina was God's judgement against New Orleans.
So what did McCain say when he got Hagee's endorsement? "All I can tell you is I'm very proud to have pastor Hagee's support."
