Michigan and Florida Democratic delegates

I am hearing talk from various news organizations that the Clinton machine may try to get the delegates from Michigan and Florida.

For those who are "in the know" ........... I don't need to explain the situation here and those who are NOT "in the know", please refrain from posting so we can keep this an educated post please.

Would Obama have any legal recourse in this situation? Is Hillary getting that desperate at this point? Will there be a backlash if she succeeds with this back-handed proposal? Is Hillary ruining the Democratic party and it's reputation by even thinking about pursuing this?

Thoughts in general?

Thanks.

Hillary concern is not for her party, but for herself. She would rather destroy the party, then to succumb to defeat. You got to remember, she was ordained before this primary ever took off.

Hell just last night, they said on CNN of all places, her campaign advisors said they had in the beginning thought it would be over by now.

I am sure both candidates are trying to talk up those delegates from those 2 states. Why wouldnt they? As we get farther down the stretch and it remains a tight race, those delegates are going to mean more and more. I think more for Obama then for Hillary. Hillary is getting the uber-elite superdelegates, which are actually more important to teh party itself, so if she keeps getting them, then those delegates from those 2 states would be more beneficial to Obama to try and say he won the most overall delegates compared to Hillary winning the uber-elite ones.

The Michigan votes are out of the question. Hillary was the only one on the ballot.

Florida, I don't think that's gonna happen. I mentioned this on another thread but, MSNBC's got a really smart analyst on there: Chuck Todd. He says that what they might do is either have a re-do of the election, or what could be more likely is awarding delegates to Florida in proportion to the national average.

So if the national average is 50/50 Obama/Hillary, then half of the delegates go to Obama and the other half go to Hillary. Seating those delegates from either state will cause a major rift in the Democratic Party. Personally, I'd probably be voting for Republicans for the Governor, Senate and House ad infinitum.

As LessGov pointed out, Hillary's concern is for herself, not for the party. To one extent or another, this is true of every politician who ever ran for office. But changing the rules after the game has been played, is pretty bad sportsmanship to be sure.

No doubt. She's doing scorched earth to win. She alienated blacks by dismissing Obama as "the black candidate" and basically implying that all blacks are drug addicts. She tried to drive a wedge between blacks and Latinos.

Hillary will do anything to win. She'll destroy the Democratic Party to win.

I hope the Democratic Party sees this to be the case as well. I think by the time of the DNC it will be crystal clear the choice Americans have made and the DNC will follow suit.

Sorry Hillary, you fought well but America has spoken, and America is saying we don't want you. Please step aside and let "Hope" step forward.

And BTW W.E.B. - thanks for the link, I just joined and contributed to the Obama '08 campaign today.

Well, we shall have to see. Hillary has been counted down before and she surprised us. Surprised us in New Hampshire and California. I know I'm not going to let up on my part.

Good choice with the contribution, by the way. Thank you.

This is a low blow for hillary and as earlier bloggers has posted she is concerned with only winning which is what many has stated in both political and personal forums. This would cause a huge rift in the party and as a result I suspect that some would leave and this party would be fractured for many years to come

Well actually that too was a rule break by Hillary. There were suppose to be no candidate names on the ballots, yet Hillary put her's on there anyways. Kind of a slide it in at the last minute kind of thing.

In my opinion when Obama had the chance to come and campaign against Clinton in Michigan he should have taken it.
In my opinion that was a bad mistake by the Obama campaign.
They had to realize that GM was on the skids then and a lot of factory workers would be laid off.
