Of all the republicans, McCain is the least sucky. My Dad used to love him back in 2000 and almost changed his party from independent to Republican just so he could vote for him over bush (my dad is a moderate). I’d still prefer either of the democrats to any of the republicans but I could at least live with McCain in the Whitehouse… though I’m pissed about how much he has changed in the past 8 years… he doesn’t remind me of the McCain I knew in 2000.

He's winning enough, precisely because he's strong on some issues conservatives care most about. Romney was not nearly as reliable and Huckabee certainly isn't.
