Where will Edwards supporters go now?

Now that John Edwards has bowed out of the race, where do you think his supporters will go?

Sub-question: Does anyone see Edwards going for a VP spot?

I'd guess they'll go to Obama, but I don't have any real reason to think that. I think he'd probably like a VP spot, but I think I heard talk of him being appointed the Attorney General.

I would like to think They'd move to Clinton but realistically I think they won't vote.

Most analysts I've heard suggest they will have a net 0 effect. Some to Obama, some to Hillary, some won't even show up.

Its kind of hard to say because its hard to get a handle on who he really represents.

The easy guess is just Democrats who don't want a woman or a black guy but I'm sure there had to be SOME voters who wanted him on his own merit. Whatever that is.

I would prefer they go to Obama, but it was reported that many of his supporters fit the Clinton demographics. I honestly don't know though. All I can do is hope they go to Obama or just stay home.

That data is wrong, and the main source for that(Mark Mellman) may not be officially a Clinton campaign operative, but I could have sworn he's connected with them somehow, or has been in the past.

Anyway, Mellman said that Edwards' supporters were poor white voters. That is completely incorrect. Edwards' supporters were wealthier white voters who self-identified as progressives. That's an Obama constituency, not a Clinton constituency.

The exception was South Carolina, and probably the rest of the South, where voting will probably break down along racial lines. But everywhere else Obama can count on white upper class support.

I hope you're right, that's some really good news if what you say is accurate.

That's interesting. That supports what people were saying a week ago. That Edwards staying in the race would help Clinton. Which to me implies he was taking votes from Obama. Not sure when that perception changed.

hmph?

I'm pretty sure most of them will go towards neither. The people that don't want "a woman or a black guy" for president were voting for Edwards. I for one am an Edwards supporter and personally for obvious reasons the two candidates both have their faults. Hillary has too much baggage with her, and Obama lacks experience. Edwards' isn't endorsing either candidate because of the reasons stated above. I mean, clearly Obama can't carry the white vote.
