A lot of people do not want another George Bush. I think If McCain and his supporters can manage to convince the people that he is different from Bush on many issues, he will pick up some support.

Right now a lot of people are under the misconception that McCain is exactly like Bush, so he has an uphill battle ahead of him.

Obama also has the problem that there are a lot of Democrats that will not vote for him, as Svante said. So it will be a close race. McCain has a better record, but Obama has more momentum from his party.
