If she does do the above, she should get a misdemeanor charge and a short jail sentence. If not, then the penalty should be harsher, probably felony... but not 5 years in a male prison as suggested above. Yes, what she did was stupid and wrong, but the punishment should be measured in accordance with the crime.

The fact that the woman was elderly should not be an aggravating factor for sentencing. Elders deserve no more or less respect than any other person.

I disagree. One main problem that Americans have, in my opinion, is a lack of respect for elders. The fact that the woman who was attacked was 81 and the perpetrator of the violence was 19 makes the crime worse. An 81 year old is in no shape to defend herself against a 19 year old and it could even be argued that the crime only took place BECAUSE the victim was so old. If that girl had pulled over and a 25 year old woman had been in the other car perhaps she would have tried to attack but... maybe not. And if it had been a 25 year old man the chances of her trying to drag him out are even less. Though... again.. the chances of her resorting to violence rise again if it had been an 81 year old man.
So, I think the age of the woman attacked should be taken into account (it definitely is when victims of rape are senior citizens) and the girl should be required to pay for the medical bills and then some and also spend some time in jail (not prison) and be required to take anger management classes. She's young. She has time to change.
