I have another question. If whites apologize for slavery, can we get back all the money spent on affirmative action and other preferential treatment given to blacks because of previous treatment for oh, about 30+ years?
Was that appreciated? Do you think words will be?

racist statements, so all pastors in black churches are to be taken as a joke huh? The money spent on affirmative action isnt shit compared to the labour the slaves put into building this country.Another typical racist statement, you want to take the money back when an apology is asked? This is what the US is doing now their going into countries killing the people(men woman and children) then turn around and build schools and give them money and then wonder why the people still hate them. Why dont you just think, you would have to be a real racist if you cannot see that the US should apologise for slavery. The money and all that other should come after the apology.

No person alive, nor the current government bears any responsibility of actions 200 years ago. We might as well apologize for for serfdom in feudal Russia if you think we should apologize for slavery.

the next president has to pick up the slack that the pevious one left. The current government is responsible for the past government actions. Why do you think Germany and Japan is so fucking quiet now? Their past government fucked up big time, even Germany apologised for the treatment of the Jews should the Jews just forget that and move on.

this is an excellent idea or even a holiday to remember slavery a mistake that will never happen again.

I see the U.S. government as the representative of the people of U.S., and I see people of running the U.S. government as the representatives of the U.S. government. I hope this is not too confusing.
The question to ask is not only "have Americans enslaved people?" but also "has America allowed enslaving to happen?" The people at fault are dead, but the government that allowed it to happen is not. It doesn't matter now the administration is run by people born 200 years later...they still need to pick up the tabs from previous ones, don't you agree? The image of America also doesn't start clean after January 20th next year, McCain/Obama/Clinton cannot say "don't blame me for Iraq, it was Bush's idea."
If you look at America as a person it might be easier for you to understand where I come from. She is a person who is 231 years old with her 232nd birthday coming up in exactly two months...she had done some wrong before she reached 100 years old but she had since stop doing it. Do you believe she still needs to apologize? Or stop doing it is enough to make up for it?

this makes perfect sense!!
