I believe she should be punished by having to pay the elderly woman's medical bills and then some. She also should have to do community service and pay for classes on anger management.

If she does do the above, she should get a misdemeanor charge and a short jail sentence. If not, then the penalty should be harsher, probably felony... but not 5 years in a male prison as suggested above. Yes, what she did was stupid and wrong, but the punishment should be measured in accordance with the crime. The fact that the woman was elderly should not be an aggravating factor for sentencing. Elders deserve no more or less respect than any other person.
