Through the acceptance of His shedding of that blood, we are declared righteous. God can't simply ignore sin because then he wouldn't be just. Christ died so that he would have a reason to.
Hebrews 9:22 "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
I wasn't suggesting that "sin" should be ignored, but rather that each sinner be measured in a reasonable way and that the system not be so black-and-white. In my experience, I know of no person who deserves heaven or hell. In a just universe, nobody would go to either place forever. To me, hell could not exist because it would be unjust, and heaven could not exist because no such condition of being would be possible.
