Note that electric subway trains do cause pollution. The electricity used to run them come for the common electrical grid which still gets most of its power from fossil fuels.
Yes, that may be partly true, some of the energy is produced by way of burning fossill fuels, but you should look at our current high speed transport
Airline system, and come to the conclusion that this system can not continue
forever. The Airlines utilize Jet Fuel. This is in itself is doing irreparable damage to our Ozone layer, and environment. We are now also experiencing an increase in the
cost of Oil,which is the source of Jet Fuel. This cost is being passed on to the traveling consumer by way of higher airline ticket prices. Moreover, many Geologist, and scientist say that within the next few hundred years, our supply of oil is due to be exhausted. So,it would be very wise for the United States as a nation, to look to an alternate form of high speed tranport.I know the cost of tunneling through the Earth is very expensive, but we will recoup those cost from the many Billions we will save by way of this Electrically powered High speed subterrainian rail network. As far as Iam concerned,it should have been constructed a long time ago.We should start now.
