Well, although white, my American ancestors never owned slaves or approved of slavery, and to my knowledge there are no former American slave owners alive today, so I do not see how it is possible for those slave owners to apologize, even if they ever did realize the errors of their ways. Fortunately attitudes and practices change, and most Americans now believe that slavery was wrong. So what would be a proper apology? Can I do it? OK, I'm sorry, as I am for a lot of other nasty things that can be found in the world's history. Does that make the past any better? As to waiting for correct equal opportunities, my family saw to it that my black/white nephew got better than equal opportunities, and as I said before, my hybrid grandsons are also being raised with more than equal opportunities. You can wait for everything to be perfect (never happen), or make the most of the world as you find it, become more personally powerful, and be better able to effect change. We get further when we work together. The enemy is the exploiter and ignorance. Asians and Whites have also been exploited, and even made slaves. I have ancestors who came here as indentured servants, but none who owned slaves. We have a common enemy; an enemy that understands the tactic of divide and conquer.
