14days gone, the parlament results out withing 4 days, the Presidential results, still nothing. No word from the commision supposed to do something about it. No word from Mugabe himself. Zimbabwe finds itself a country in limbo.
And now the only orginisation who can realisticly do anything about it, SADEC (Souther African DEvelopment Community) meets this weekend, and we all wait to see what they will do.
On paper, this group should have condemned Mugabe years ago. The group includes countries like Botswana, the most stable country on the continent, South Africa, the richest and most powerful country in sub-Sahara Africa, who has made a peaceful change to full democracy. Mozambique, very poor, but it also made a miracle change fromwar to peace, and NAmibia, another stable nation. Yet this group has just kept on being either silent, or even defending its elder statesman, Mugabe.
It is time for SADEC to show theworld, and its own people that it WILL practice what it preaches, and stand up for freedom and democracy in the region.

“From the point of view of the pharmaceutical industry, the AIDS problem has already been solved. After all, we already have a drug which can be sold at the incredible price of $8, 000 an annual dose, and which has the added virtue of not diminishing the market by actually curing anyone.”
