What if we were to actually divide the country?

Take 20 states and declare them Republican-
Take 20 states and declare them Democrat-
Take 10 states and declare them Independant-

Whichever party the state is, would have elected officials from only that party, thus laws, policies, etc..from that party.
One does not have to be affiliated with said party to live there. (ie..a proclaimed democrat could if he so chooses, live in a republican state)


We could even go so far as to have three federal govt's, I suppose. Elect a president of each set of states.
I realize this would create, in essence, three countries instead of one, but it's been boggling my mind for some time now so I hope to boggle some out there. (Just here to help)

Which states would you guys choose for which party?
If your current state of residence became a state for a party you don't support, would you move?

How about one state for the Libertarians? We'll call it Freedonia.
