I've had cars since I got my driving license but boy, do I feel lucky that after I moved to Asia many years ago, I didn't have to get another one. Having great public transport here, be it by bus, subway, ferry or even by cheap local taxi is doing just fine for me. Of course, I rent a small car when visiting Euroland but that's only 1 or 2 times a year and for a short while!
On the other hand, in many places people here are abusing/misusing the A/C for 9 or 10 months a year which leads to huge bills and bye-bye the environmental friendly carbon footprint.
