Well, just to get this straight, you, personally, would be fine with a loved one spending upwards of 15 years in prison for terminating their pregnancy? If a woman and her male partner (the father) went together to get the abortion, would you agree to have the male partner be charged as an accomplice to murder and spend 5 or more years in prison? I just want to have one person say it clearly & precisely so I can say I have actually seen someone agree to such a punishment.
And to answer your question about "less abortion if the punishment is heavy".... NO. If you would like to do some research into the successes of other countries who have made abortion illegal, it will answer your question as to whether or not abortion numbers lower. What raises is maternal mortality, infant mortality, permanent wounding, mildly and severely handicapped infants, quack 'doctors' with non-sterilized 'tools'.... etc.

You can condescend all you want. I have my opinion, and abortion is murder. It's black and white to me.The punishment should fit the crime. I thought I made that clear. If you are asking if the law should be retroactive, then i would say no.There are other solutions to an unwanted pregnancy. People make the decision every day. Why not put the child up for adoption? The parents don't have to deal with their mistakes, and the child has a chance to grow up, and choose his own way.
It is a weak and old argument that the abortion rate would remain the same if it were illegal. If we were to use your argument, why have laws at all? Why do we punish those who drive while impaired? They're going to do it anyway. Why not make it legal. What about prostitution? It's a womans body, can't she do with it as she pleases?and what countries have criminalized abortion?
