The cold war was over a short time ago. Only it brought about many factors to American policy making, and created the reality we see today. Your failure to grasp the issue stems from sheer lack of knowledge, combined with inability to grasp the total (not that simplistic, that means) picture.
You said Israel contribute nothing. I only pointed some issues. BTW, to this day, it is a treasure for American army intelligence, and the issues of Russian supplied air defenses to Syria, is very relevant. So goes with Israeli intelligence flow to the US, on topics you have o clue of, and for a good reason. One such a topic was published recently, the Israeli commando raid into Syria, which provided proof of N.Korean nuclear material in Syrian hands.
Actually, Israel is an asset to the US, in more ways then one.
